The Pella Christian girls got back on the winning track at Grinnell last night winning 39-29 thanks in large part to a strong first half. The Eagles jumped out to a 15-7 lead at the end of one quarter and extended that lead to 23-11 at halftime. Their defense forced 13 Grinnell turnovers in the first half, many of which led to easy baskets on the offensive end allowing them to enjoy that halftime lead. The second half was a different story however as the Tigers held the Eagles scoreless for the first four and a half minuyes of the third quarter while going on an 8-0 run to close within four points at 23-19, but from there the Eagles outscored the Tigers 16-10 to get the win. Coach Kevion Van Maanen says overall he was very pleased with how they played and how after the Tigers made their run they answered back. Jasmin Schelhaas led the Eagles with 10 points, Bekah Posthuma had nine and Shelby Weaver had eight as Pella Christian improved to 11-8 on the season and 8-5 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. Pella Christian will host Chariton this afternoon in a girls only contest.
