Pleasantville jumped out to a 20-8 first quarter lead and held Van Meter at arm’s length to win its class 2A girls first round regional basketball game Saturday night 56-40. The Trojans, who are not know for putting up a lot of points lit it up for 20 in the first eight minutes on the strength of three-three point baskets by Kaitlyn Friday. Her 18 points led the way for Pleasantville while Konner Gordon chipped in 12. Coach Trevor Miller said the 20 point first quarter and the play in the second half was key. Pleasantville improves to 15-6 on the season and will travel to Panora on Tuesday night to play host Panorama in the Regional quarterfinal.
