The Central College women’s basketball team again struggled to get their shots to go down and Coe College proved to be too strong as the Kohawks handed the Dutch at 90-46 loss last night in Cedar Rapids.
Central hit just 16-of-57 shots from the floor, including 2-of-16 from 3-point range, with freshman forward Nicole Strasko leading the team in scoring with 16 points. Sophomore AJ Baker had a team high five rebounds.

The loss drops the Central women to 2-22 overall and 1-14 in the Iowa Conference.

In the men’s game, the Dutch were able to fend off two scoring runs by Coe in the second half and close the game out with eight consecutive free throws en route to a 74-67 victory.

Central College’s Loren Liming led the way with 20 points and 11 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season, while Mark Holan poured in 19 points.

The victory for the Central men was their seventh straight, with the Dutch improving to 20-4 overall and 13-2 in the Iowa Conference. It’s the first 20-win season for the Central men since going 20-5 in 1978-79.
