Tonight marks round three between the Pella and Norwalk boys, but this time a berth in the State Tournament is on the line when they meet in the Class 3A Sub State at SE Polk High School. Pella Coach Mark Core says the two teams have contrasting styles of play which should make for another exciting matchup:
” They (Norwalk) like to play a controlled game where they can run their offense and get the type of shots they want from the guys they want to take those shots wheras we’re as much opposite that as you can imagine. From game to game we never know who’s going to take the shots and step up and any given night it could be any one of our players that leads us in scoring. We want to create kind of a helter skelter type of game and play at a faster tempo. We’re just really pleased to be in this game but also quite hopeful we’ll move on and play in the State Tournament”
The two shared the LHC title this year as Norwalk beat Pella 51-48 on January 15th and Pella returned the favor winning 51-38 at Norwalk on February 12th handing the Warriors their only loss this season. Pella enters tonight’s Sub State game 19-3 while Norwalk is 22-1.
