The Pella Christian girls basketball season ended a lot sooner than they hoped with a loss in the opening round of post season play to PCM..that aside looking back on the season, Coach Kevin Van Maanen says he was very proud of what the team accomplished.

The Eagle girls finished 13-9 and 9-5 in the LHC which earned them a third place finish behind Knoxville and Pella, which considering the fact they’re the smallest school in the conference isn’t too bad. He says he was very proud of how Jasmin Schelhaas and Christian Nolte gradually got better through the season, both coming off knee surgeries shortly before the season began. He also says this was one of the better defensive teams he’s coached as they showed when they held a powerful Knoxville team scoreless for an entire quarter but the story of their season was cold shooting which aided in those nine losses. The Eagles lose three seniors from this years team, all starters including Jackie Veenstra, Bekah Posthuma and Courtney Van Kooten which will leave some holes to fill next season but Van Maanen says there’s a lot of returning talent to look forward to.
