Tonight is the night the Pella boys have been waiting for…the night they step on the floor at Wells Fargo Arena to play in the State Basketball Tournament.

Pella is the number five seed in the 3A tournament and tonight faces the number four seed Forest City for the right to advance to the semifinal round. Pella coach Mark Core says Forest City has several good players to watch out for but their point guard is a big weapon:

“Their point guard will dribble in, draw a defender or two, then kick the ball to his low post player who shoots about 65%. Beyond that they have alot of solid good role players and they’ll play about nine players. We’ll have to neutralize those two and do the best we can with their other guys”

Core also says they need to take very good care of the basketball against Forest City’s pressure and zone defense and make sure they go hard after every rebound opportunity, especially on the offensive end. He says the guys have worked very hard in practice and have been very focused over the past week and he says they believe they can win a state title. Pella enters tonights game 20-3 while Forest City is 21-3.

You can hear the game live on 92.1 FM KRLS with Jamie Brockman and Randy Sikkema starting with the pre game at 6pm and tip off at 6:30pm tonight from Wells Fargo Arena. Tickets for the game are on sale today from 8am-4:30pm at Pella High School.
