The Pella boys are on a mission and they showed it last night as they dominated Forest City winning 85-50 in the opening round of the Class 3A Boys State Basketball tournament.

The Little Dutch defense was as good as it’s been all season forcing 29 Indian turnovers which led to several easy baskets. Coach Mark Core said their defensive intensity set the tone early on and really frustrated Forest City. Those 29 turnovers led to 37 Pella points. Pella also scored 54 of their 85 points in the paint, but the stat Core was most impressed with was the fact the Pella bench poured in 48 points. [simage=1718,200,y,right]

Pella had four players in double figures led by Matt “Bubba” Meyers with 13 points, Deckar Lynch, Nick Dorman and Kyle Newendorp each scored 12. Pella improved to 21-3 on the season and moves on to the Class 3A semi finals tomorrow night at 6:35pm where they will face top seeded Mont Pleasant, a team they lost to by two point at Mt. Pleasant earlier this season.
