Playing a clean game with no errors helped the Central College baseball team to an 8-7 victory over Muhlenberg Sunday. The Dutch later fell to Delaware Valley College 10-2.

The game went down to the wire against Muhlenberg. Central went up by one in the eighth, but the Mules tied it in the top of the ninth. Dave Lakin was the lead-off batter, reaching on an error. Mike Furlong smacked a single down the third base line, and Ben Tressel ripped the game-winning RBI single. The Dutch had 14 hits. Furlong was four for six, Pitcher D.J. Glasgow started the game and threw seven innings before being relieved by Doug Eisenman who pitched two innings to get the win. In the loss to Deleware Valley Central had just six hits. Freshman Ryan Goetzinger pitched five innings and was tagged with the loss. Joel Pulliam threw three and Jarred Lackey finished out the game, pitching the ninth. Central, now 5-2, is off today but returns to action tomorrow with a game against St Mary’s.
