Residents in Pella may have noticed a number of green, 55-gallon drums placed around the downtown area. The receptacles are typically used as supplemental trash containers during busy events downtown, such as Tulip Time, but the City of Pella is not getting ready for the annual festival just yet. Janette Vaughan with the Pella Public Works Department tells KNIA/KRLS News that the barrels are turned upside-down to cover the exposed bases of several lamp posts around the central business district, while the lamps are being repaired and refurbished.
