The City of Pella will conduct its monthly test of the city’s outdoor warning system at noon on Saturday. Pella Police Department Communications Supervisor Marcia Slycord says the system, which consists of eight warning sirens located throughout the community, is tested on the first Saturday of each month at noon, unless severe weather is present.

Slycord adds that the sirens are part of an “outdoor” warning system and are not designed to be audible indoors. The test of Pella’s outdoor warning system will pre-empt a statewide tornado warning drill, which will take place at 10:00 a.m. this coming Wednesday as part of National Severe Weather Awareness Week.
