Central College sophomore Kyle Wood of Newton is the Iowa Conference men’s track and field athlete of the week for track events. Wood helped win three events at Saturday’s Central Invitational. He took first place out of 39 runners in the 200 meter dash, winning in 21.8 seconds, and also ran the third leg of Central’s first-place 4×100-meter relay team and ran the leadoff leg of the winning 4×400-meter relay unit. His performances helped Central take the team title in the 11-team meet. It’s the second time this year that Wood has been recognized, and the sixth time this year that Central has received league honors in men’s track and field. The Dutch travel to Des Moines for the Jim Duncan Invitational at Drake University Saturday.
