Saturday night will be Prom night for the students at Pella Community High School. Members of the junior class have been planning and working on this year’s event since September, which will again be held at the Pella Opera House. Emily Drey, a junior at Pella High, says she’s excited to share her classmates’ hard work with the seniors.

“I’m just looking forward to when everyone walks into the Opera House and sees – hopefully – what a great job it was and the surprised looks on their faces, and to take pictures and have fun,” said Drey.

Tricia Wisniewski, another junior and member of the prom committee says while she’s looking forward to the event as a whole, she’s also excited about getting dolled-up for the evening.

“I was excited about picking out a dress,” said Wisniewski. “I love getting dressed up, so that’s going to be the best part for me. [laughs]”

“The Premiere: Come Be the Stars of the Night” is the theme for the night, which will feature a Hollywood motif. Pella High School Assistant Principal Eric Nelson, who oversees the Prom activities, says the night is all about creating a positive experience for those who attend.

“It’s been an excellent experience for our students. They do an outstanding job every year, and they just have a great experience that night,” said Nelson. “That’s the main thing we try to provide; a lasting, memorable experience for them.”

An open house for Pella High School’s prom will be held from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday. The dance itself begins at 9:00 p.m. and runs until midnight, with After Prom – which is organized by the parents of the senior class – held at the Pella High School.
