The day of a meal-packaging event to aid victims of the earthquakes in Haiti is fast approaching, and volunteers are still needed for the “Pella Meals from the Heartland” event. Brian Naaden, one of the organizers of the event, says volunteers are particularly needed to work shifts in the afternoon on Saturday, as the collective volunteer effort hopes to package up to 600,000 meals.

Volunteers can be nearly any age and will work in teams of 10 to 12 for two hour shifts. The KNIA/KRLS Big Red Radio will also be at the event Saturday playing music and providing updates on packaging milestones.
