A local runner will participate in the 114th Boston Marathon today. Knoxville’s Christina Cunningham who qualified last fall in a marathon race in Minneapolis will run the legendary 26-point-two mile course which begins in the rural New England town of Hopkinton and ends near the John Hancock Tower in Copley Square in downtown Boston. This is Cunningham’s first Boston Marathon. She says getting to qualify is a great honor. Cunningham adds running has always been a part of her life and now her son Wick is a distance runner for the Knoxville Boys Track and Field Squad. Cunningham is scheduled to start in wave one this morning which should start around nine. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS this morning for updates of Cunningham’s progress.
