The Central College baseball team’s pursuit of first place in the conference race ran into a road block yesterday in Storm Lake, as league-leader Buena Vista University swept the Dutch 5-3 and 10-3 in an Iowa Conference baseball doubleheader.  The Dutch were up 2-0 in the opener before the Beavers rattled off five runs in three consecutive innings to take the win.  

In the nightcap, Central was again leading – this time 3-2 in the fourth – when Buena Vista exploded for six runs on seven hits to break the game open, en route to a seven-run win.  The losses dropped the Central baseball team to 13-6 in the conference race and into a tie for second with Wartburg College.  The Dutch are 24-10 overall going into a three-game series in Dubuque with Loras College, beginning Friday.
