Funeral services for Leo Ward Lukes, age 87, of Des Moines will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at the Mason Funeral Home in Pleasantville at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Pleasantville Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fellowship Community Church in Norwalk. Leo passed away on Tuesday at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was a WW II Veteran and worked at the Amoco in Carlisle until his retirement in 1989. Survivors include his wife, Catherine; son, Bob (Betty) Minella of Norwalk; grandchildren, Jason (Cheri) Minella of St. Marys, Gracia (Scott) Anderson of St. Charles, Allison (John) Jacobson of West Des Moines; 9 great-grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
