It’s no secret Pella High School has enjoyed a very successful school year in athletics so far, in fact, one of the best in the state.

With their boys cross country state championship, fifth place girls cross country finish, runner up finishes in football and basketball, 4th place in boys track, sixth in boys golf, and also a state tournament qualification in volleyball , Pella has vaulted into second place in the Des Moines Register All Sports Trophy race.

Following the State Golf Meet, Pella is second in the medium school classification with 40.5 points, just one point behind Sioux City Heelan who has 41.5, but nine points ahead of third place Dubuque Wahlert.

Schools earn points for every top eight finish in a sanctioned state tournament and points are accumulated throughout the school year. Pella won the All Sports Trophy in 2008.
