Pella Christian went to South Tama and swept the Trojans in a Little Hawkeye Conference baseball doubleheader last night winning game one 1-0 and also taking the nightcap 11-8.

Jon Holwerda pitched a complete game shutout for the Eagles in game one allowing just three hits while striking out 10 and walking two. Tom Bouwkamp was 2-3 at the plate and Micah Nieboer went 1-2.

In the nightcap the Eagles used three pitchers and Sam Denooy was credited with the win pitching five innings, allowing five runs, only two of which were earned, he also struck out three and walked four. Jordan Rossler pitched one inning and struck out the side and Luke Callahan threw one inning giving up three runs and walking four. The Eagle bats came alive as well as Mark Van Zee led at the plate going 3-4 with an RBI, Jon Holwerda was 2-2 with an RBI and three stolen bases, Kyle DeRonde was 2-3 with an RBI, Sam Denooy was 2-3 and Zach Zylstra, Curtis Rozenboom, and Jordan Rossler each had one hit

Pella Christian is now 7-0 on the season and 2-0 in conference play and they get right back on the diamond today at the Eddyville Blakesburg tournament where they face North Mahaska at noon, then will play either Pekin or Eddyville Blakesburg later in the day.
