Behind the potent arm of ace pitcher Paige Blom, the Pella Christian softball team was able to secure another win last night, this time at South Tama. The 4-0 victory wasn’t easy to come by, though, as the Lady Eagles held just a one-run lead for the duration of the game before tacking on the final three runs in the seventh inning to give themselves some breathing room.

Blom was solid in the pitching circle, racking up 14 strikeouts and walking four Trojette batters. Pella Christian picked up 7 hits at the plate, with Heather Van Sant, Ashley Van Kooten and Tayler Stursma all going 2-for-3 to lead the Lady Eagles. Stursma and Van Kooten each had an RBI as well.

With the win, Pella Christian is now 7-4 overall and 3-1 in Little Hawkeye Conference play going into tonight’s contest on the other side of town at Pella High School.

KNIA/KRLS will bring you live coverage of the softball showdown between the Lady Eagles and the Lady Dutch on 92.1 fm KRLS, with Eric Gotschall providing the play-by-play. The action starts at roughly 7:15 p.m. tonight with pre-game programming, with the opening pitch slated for around 7:30 p.m.
