Knoxville baseball fell to Newton last night 11-5. The Panthers found themselves down early 3-1 but battled back to take the lead only to see the Cardinals surge ahead in the fifth inning and keep the lead for good. Colton Spaur was tagged with the loss. Knoxville slips to 10-4 on the season and 3-2 in Little Hawkeye Conference play. Today, the Panthers host their own invitational. Coach Steve Mott says the field is very solid. Knoxville has a shot at Newton for the second straight day if the two meet in either the championship of consolation game. This is the only time for over the week that fans can see the Panthers at home as all of their games next week are on the road.
