Despite trailing for more than half of the game, the Pella Christian softball team held strong defensively for six straight innings and battled back offensively late in the contest to pick up a 4-1 on the road at Norwalk last night. The Warriors hit the scoreboard first, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The next 4 1/2 innings went quickly, as both defenses kept the score frozen at 1-0.

The Lady Eagles found the offense they needed in the fifth inning, though, breaking out for three runs and taking the lead. Pella Christian would add one more run in the sixth to close out the 4-1 victory. Offensively, Sami Veenstra led the Lady Eagles at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance with two runs scored. Paige Blom and Ashley Van Kooten finished the evening going 2-for-4 at the dish.

Blom also pitched a complete game for Pella Christian, giving up just two hits and one walk while striking out eight Norwalk batters. The Pella Christian softball team is now 8-5 overall and 4-2 in the Little Hawkeye Conference going into a make-up game with Grinnell tonight at Pella Christian that was rained out last Thursday.
