With little to no rainfall in the past two days, the water level at Lake Red Rock is no longer on the rise. As of late Friday afternoon, the conservation pool had dropped slightly since the early morning to 776.70 feet, and is expected to continue to decline in the next 24 hours.

The latest report from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers also estimated a reduction of the in-flow to 40,000 cubic feet per second – the same rate as the out-flow at the dam. The forecast also predicts the in-flow at Lake Red Rock to decline steadily over the coming days, while the out-flow will remain constant for the time being.

The high-water mark came ahead of what had been forecast, when the Lake crested at 776.77 feet early Friday morning. The lake’s level came within six feet of the record for the reservoir, which was 782.67 feet – set in July of 1993.

Howell Station Campground will be closed until further notice due to river levels. The North and South Tailwater Recreation Areas below the dam remain open at this time.

Boat ramps that are currently open include those at the Whitebreast Recreation Area, Marina Cove and Elk Rock State Park (just off of Highway 14) for lake access, and Howell Station Landing for river access below the dam. Please note that parking areas at the Marina Cove ramp are very limited during times of high water.

The North Overlook and Whitebreast Beaches are closed
