The Pella Police Department is urging citizens to be cautious of a number of scams that have been reported in the past several weeks. Pella Police Officer Paul Haase says the scams have come via telephone, e-mail and letter mail, and often request for potential victims to send money to the requesting party by using money order services such as Western Union or Money Gram. Often the request is for the money to be sent to a foreign country. Officer Haase says residents should be leery of any request to send money in advance for goods or services, and says any suspicious requests should be reported to local law enforcement.
