After going 2-0 Friday at the Ames Invitational, including an upset win over eighth ranked West Deleware, the Pella softball team went 0-2 on Saturday falling to North Scott in nine innings 2-1 and the host school Ames 8-1 in five innings. In the North Scott game Mandy Demeulenaere pitched all nine innings and took the loss allowing four hits, and no earned runs while walking two and striking out four. Whitney Williams was 3-4 at the plate. In the Ames game Bri Arkema pitched all five innings and took the loss allowing 11 hits and five earned runs while walking six and striking out three. Rachel Greving had an RBI single. With the losses Pella falls to 13-8 overall.
Pella coach Mandy Demeulenaere says the girls confidence continues to grow, and the win over West Deleware Friday is proof of how good they can be.
The Lady Dutch return to LHC action today with a trip to Grinnell, then play a non conference contest at Class 1A 10th ranked North Mahaska tomorrow, before playing two more conference rivalry games at Pella Christian Wednesday and at home vs Knoxville Thursday. Pella is 6-2 in the LHC.
