Central College’s longtime Sports Information Director, Larry Happel, is being inducted into the College Sports Information Directors of America’s (CoSIDA) Hall of Fame next week. Happel took over as SID in 1979 as an undergraduate student and remained with his alma mater after completing his degree in communications in 1981. In his time at Central, he has also held several additional titles, including associate director of marketing and media relations – which he added in 1999.

Among his many accolades, Happel has served as Sports Information Director for 24 NCAA football playoff games and has helped Central host five NCAA Division III championship finals in four sports. He was nominated for the Hall of Fame by Dave Wrath of Augustana College in Illinois. Larry Happel will be inducted during a convention and awards gala in San Francisco, California that runs from July 4th through the 7th.
