Melcher-Dallas Softball Squad was involved in its third straight one run ball game last night, unfortunately, the Saints were on the wrong end of the score. Lynnville-Sully ripped a two R-B-I single in the bottom of the seventh to beat the Saints 10-9 in a game that had more twists and turns than summer blockbuster. The Hawks got up big early 4-0 and threatened to blow the game out, but Melcher-Dallas roared back with eight runs in the fifth helped with timely hitting and five Lynnville-Sully errors. However the Hawks tied it up at eight in the bottom of the sixth when Melcher-Dallas’ Ashley Dittmer put the Saints on top 9-8. That set the stage for a two-out walk-off single to end the game. Melcher-Dallas Coach Jim Crozier thought with the bottom of the order for the Hawks coming up his team had a real shot to win it. JoAnna Wells took the loss ending a brilliant career for Melcher-Dallas. She leaves as the all-time wins leader with 101. Melcher-Dallas finishes the season with a 20-9 record.
