While the high school wrestling season may be about five months away, the summer is used for off season camps and amature tournaments. 16 wrestlers from Knoxville went to a camp recently in Lincoln, Nebraska to learn new techniques and wrestle in some matches. The Panthers did very well led by Aaron Crossett who finished with a 12-and-two record. Other grapplers who did well were, Lane Colwell, Kirean Robuck, and Dylan Crouce all went 9-4…and Skyler Spaur went 7-4. According to Head Coach Eric Whitcome, the team compiled a 108-93 record compared to 61-81 last year. As a team Knoxville finished 11th out of 24 teams from around the Midwest. Also, Jay Fresh was selected to complete with Team Iowa and the U-S-A Wrestling National Duals recently. Fresh completed in both Greco-Roman and Freestyle finishing 3-5 in Greco-Roman, and 4-4 in Freestyle. Fresh will continue his summer wrestling has he travels to the Fargo Nationals next week in Fargo, North Dakota.
