Football season may be a couple months away, but over the next week, the top senior football players from across the state of Iowa this past season will strap on the pads and helmets and get ready to hit somebody as the 38th annual Shrine Bowl All Star football game will be played on Saturday. Players, coaches and cheerleaders will report to camp this week and begin workouts and practices for the big game. Pella’s Blaine Forsythe will be a member of the South All Star squad and says he looks forward to this experience and is honored to be chosen. Throughout the week players, coaches and cheerleaders will be involved in many activities in addition to practices, including hosting a mini camp clinic for Shriners Hospital children as well as a hog roast, honor banquet and trips to Adventureland and an Iowa Cubs game. Advance tickets may be purchased from the Forsythe family for $10 by calling 780-6844 or at the gate for $15 the day of the game. The annual All Star game will be played Saturday at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames with kickoff scheduled for 7pm.
