The former railroad bridge that spans Highway 163 south of Pella will now be owned by the City of Pella, following the approval of a resolution on a transfer agreement between the City and the Iowa Department of Transportation at Tuesday night’s Pella City Council meeting. The City is planning to use the bridge as part of a walking and biking path.

In other business, the Pella City Council approved the third and final reading adopting new language to prohibited signs under city jurisdiction, and approved the second reading of an ordinance amending the speed limit on East Vermeer Road.

Other items that were approved by the council included permission to seek requests for proposals from professional audit services and a special event permit and street closure for the Pella Christian Grade School Softball Marathon.
