Despite exiting the post season with a first round loss in the District tournament to Colfax Mingo, the Pella Christian baseball team had another overall successful season. The Eagles started the season 9-0 and at one point were ranked as high as fourth in Class 2A. Coming into the season coach Brad Rolffs knew he had a pretty solid, deep pitching rotation he could count on and even though they struggled at times, that was a major part of their success. The Eagles pitching staff led the Little Hawkeye Conference in opponents batting average as they held their opponents to just a .256 average at the plate and were second in E.R.A. at 2.53. Tom Bouwkamp, Jon Holwerda and Zach Zylstra were the three pitchers that saw the most innings this season with Sam DeNooy and Kyle DeRonde also in the mix. The Eagles finished the season 20-12 overall and were 12-8 in the LHC. They only lose two seniors including Holwerda and Sam DeNooy so they will return a wealth of experience again next season.
