Twenty golfers split into five teams turned hit the course at Bos Landen yesterday for the first-ever golf tournament to benefit the Pella Community School athletics department. The four-person, best shot format awarded pay-outs to the top three foursomes, and also included prizes for several holes on the course.

The winning team shot twelve under par, as Eric Nelson, Mark Wittmer, Russ Van Hemert and Kelsi Van Tassel carded an 18-hole score of 60 to win the tournament. Two shots off the leader was the team of Brian Huddle, Greg Renaud, Tom Renaud and Rich Paris, and placing third with a 64 was team Dingeman.

The tournament opened up a busy weekend on the courses in Pella, as the action continues today with the annual Pella City Golf Tournament. The two-day outing begins today at Bos Landen, with the second and final round held on Sunday at the Pella Country Club.
