Knoxville Police Department was not called to any major disturbance or fight during this year’s nationals, that’s according to Chief Dan Losada who says generally speaking, the crowd was well behaved and cooperative. Police statistics for this year’s nationals were in line with 2009, as the police department responded to 339 calls for service, made 19 arrests – 11 of them being Marion County residents and 8 being alcohol related, officers made 168 traffic stops, issued 65 citations and wrote a total of 43 reports – compared to an average of 19 per week for the first seven months of the year. Losada adds that the Knoxville police reserves logged 251.5 hours during this time. All six reserves participated by donating between 13 and 74 hours each, which saved the city between $5,300 and $8,000.
