The Pella City Council was presented with the city’s Electric Utility Budget for the 2010-2011 fiscal year during a special meeting this week. Pella City Administrator Mike Nardini says the over $22 million budget was a challenge to assemble because of the many variables in the utilities industry.

One notable feature of the budget is a proposed 4.63% overall rate increase, which has been proposed to compensate for a nearly eight percent decrease in electric utility sales since 2007 – accounting for an annual loss of $1.1 million in revenue.
