Construction began this week for a new wetland near the Knoxville 3M plant.  The Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Natural Resources Conservation Service are working hand in hand with 3M Corporation to build the wetland on their property.  The wetland will serve several purposes such as increasing the water quality of Competine Creek, providing a habitat for wildlife and offering educational opportunities for the public.  3M Plant Manager Greg Couves says they are very thankful for the help of the conservation service in securing funds to help make this project possible and encourages other individuals, organizations and businesses to look implementing similar conservation practices on their property.
