In a meet that featured three of the top ten teams in class three-A and all from the Little Hawkeye Conference…the Knoxville boys beat them all and won their Grinnell Cross Country Invitational. Knoxville was 14 points better than rival Pella and 29 points better than second ranked Grinnell. Knoxville’s Jamie VanderVeer led the Panther pack with a third place finish while Timothy Shepherd finished sixth. The top five runners for Knoxville finished in the top 21. Pella was led by Zach Buchheit in second and Evan Jones in fifth. Pella Christian placed seventh with Skyler Giddings coming home fourth. P-C-M’s Jesse McAtee finished 44th…the Mustangs did not have a complete team to score points. On the girls side…Pella was second as Gabby Merrick came in third place with Sarah Wittenberg placing ninth. Knoxville placed seventh with Alissa VanKlootWyk came across the line in 12th posting a time of 17 minutes and two seconds. Michaela Martin led Pella Christian with a 29th place finish…Pella Christian did not have enoupoh runner to score. P-C-M girls also had an incomplete team and the Mustangs were led by Chloe Yoder in 91st place.
