Just a few days remain before this year’s midterm election and the Auditor’s office has been busy for weeks tallying votes from residents who chose to avoid lines at the polls on Tuesday. Marion County Auditor Jake Grandia tells KNIA/KRLS news as of Wednesday afternoon there have been 5,143 ballots submitted to his office, which includes all mailed in requests and early voting at the courthouse and satellite early voting polls. Grandia says this is a large jump in absentee totals as there were only 3,200 in the last off year election of 2006. He says they are not allowed to mail out absentee ballots past Friday, but voters can still vote at the Auditor’s office until the end of the day Monday.
