The rankings are produced by the NCAA Division III Football Committee and serve as the basis for selections to the 32-team Division III playoff field, which will be announced November 14. Undefeated St. Thomas is ranked first in the West. Iowa Conference rival Wartburg is 3rd with Coe 4th. Central is ranked No. 17 nationally by the American Football Coaches Association and No. 18 by D3football.com. The Dutch have two regular-season games remaining and travel to Storm Lake Saturday to take on Buena Vista.
