Marion County came away with three top ten team performances at Saturday’s State Cross Country Meet. The Knoxville boys finished runner-up to Dubuque Wahlert by four points while Pella finsihed sixth. Pella’s Zach Buchheit led three Marion County boys runners with All-State performaces as Buchheit finsihed in second place, Knoxville’s Jamie VanderVeer was third and Pella’s Evan Jones placed 7th. The third team was the Pella girls who took third place in the three-A race. Gaby Meirick led the Lady Dutch with an All-State performance in fifth place. In class two-A…the Pella Christian boys finished 15th as the Eagles grabbed two All-State medals with Skylar Giddings placing seventh and Josh Meyer finsihed ninth. Three other local runners were at state. Knoxville’s Alissa VanKlootwyk placed 43rd in class three-A girls, Pella Christian’s Sarah Brandsen finished 58th in class two-A girls, and PCM’s Jake Potter was 12th in class two-A boys.
