The Knoxville City Council awarded a contract for roof resurfacing of the City Hall and Recreation Center at their meeting Monday. The $148,824.70 contract went to Koopman Construction of Pella. A total of $177,000 was included in the General Obligation Bond Issue, with Koopman’s bid coming in under the estimate by $28,175.30. City Manager Dick Schrad says both roofs are many years old and they were starting to see serious problems with water leakage in parts of the buildings. Schrad says installation of the new membrane roofs will hopefully begin within the next few weeks.
