Sparked by the inspired play of reserve outside hitter Cyndi Johnson, the Central College volleyball team made a rousing comeback Tuesday night against Wartburg in the season finale at Kuyper Gymnasium.  After struggling with their hitting in the first two games, the Dutch were able to turn the match around in game three and stun the Knights in the final two games.

Johnson was forced into action by an injury to one of Central’s starters and responded with a kill, four digs and two service aces.  Pella native Chelsea Greiger had a match-high 23 digs, while fellow high school teammate Haley Brillhart registered six kills and three blocks.

The win pushed the Central volleyball team into a three-way tie for third place in the Iowa Conference with Wartburg and Simpson.  The Dutch are now 20-12 overall and will travel to Dubuque for the six-team Iowa Conference tournament at Loras College tomorrow and Saturday.
