Earlier this month, several English Creek Speedway race teams traveled to Texoma Motor Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas for the 4th Annual Gobbler Gold Cup Race of Champions. Leading the way for our local teams was five year-old rookie Jury Ellis of Knoxville who was named the Jr. 1 class “Gobbler Gold Cup Champion”. Drivers in the Jr. 1 class are 5-8 years-old and Jury received a championship trophy and $100 in prize money. He is the son of Dustin and Melissa Ellis and grandson of Jim and Diane Ellis of Knoxville. In the Jr. 2 class, seven year-old Scotty Johnson, son of Corey and Kirsten Johnson of Melcher-Dallas, earned third place. And in the 500cc class, veteran driver Cody Ambers of Knoxville won second place honors. Cody is the son of Mike Ambers and grandson of Dan Ebright of Knoxville.
