A game that seemed evenly matched in the beginning quickly got out of hand for the Central College women’s basketball team last night, as St. Catherine cruised past the Dutch in an 87-56 win in the Nebraska Wesleyan Tip-Off Tournament. A breakdown in the Central defense allowed the Wildcats to shoot a blistering 61.4 percent from the floor, while a seven-minute scoring drought did little to help the Dutch make up ground on what was a 48-27 deficit at halftime.

Jordan Waddell led the Dutch in scoring for the second straight game, as she tallied 13 points, with two other players notching nine points apiece. A lopsided rebounding margin also hurt the Central women, as only Cory Bacon had more than two rebounds as St. Catherine held a 39-21 edge over the Dutch on the glass. The Central women continue tournament play this afternoon, as they face Martin Luther in the third-place game of the Nebraska Wesleyan Tip-Off.
