With two wins already under the belts, the Pella Christian girls basketball team is off to a strong start to the season entering the holiday break.  The Lady Eagles were expected to be strong at the guard position – with the return of starters Jasmin Schelhaas and Christina Nolte – but the front court was a bit of an unknown.

Pella Christian Head Coach Kevin Van Maanen says even though none of his forwards were starters last season, the varsity minutes they did see should help give them a good foundation to build on and continue to improve.

“I think we’ve got very good post players.  Paige Zylstra and Renae De Bruin are my starting post players this year, and Shelby Weaver is at the three spot this season,” said Van Maanen.  “They’ve got experience.  It’s just a matter of them getting in and getting the job done.”

Pella Christian is 2-0 following wins this week over PCM and Albia and will have a break from varsity competition until December 6th.
