Fundraising for the Hickory Ridge Wilderness Camp is in the home stretch with just $23,000 left to raise for the $405,000 project and local scouts have been doing their part to help. Pella Scout Troop 373 has been flipping pancakes, frying sausage and clearing brush the past few weeks to do what they can to help raise the final funds needed to secure the camp.

Fermin Falcon, Troop Patrol Advisor says the young men look forward to being able to utilize Hickory Ridge and has been able to raise more than $400 recently for the project. Their donations and all other contributions for the remainder of the year are now being matched by a challenge grant from the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation’s John S. Lowenberg Fund.
