The record books at Prairie City Monroe High School were rewritten Tuesday night as the PCM Boys Basketball team held off a scrappy bunch from Grandview Park Baptist for an 82-73 win to open up the 2010-2011 campaign.

. Scott Bruxvoort had a night that many can only dream of, the Mustang Junior was too much for the Defenders defense all night as he went for a single game school record 47 points, breaking the previous record of 38 points set in 2004 by PCM great and current Oakland Raider Brandon Meyers. The Mustangs started the game hot putting up 25 in the first quarter, 19 of those coming from Bruxvoort, but ran into foul trouble in the second period. Both Bruxvoort and big man Jordan Van Roekel were saddled with two first half fouls leaving Coach Fred Lorenson to look to his bench. Subs Nate VandeWall and Dillon Bruxvoort would play quality minutes helping the Mustangs to a 10 point halftime lead. In the second half the explosive Defenders offense came alive again cutting the PCM lead to five behind strong play from Reed Mells who ended the night with 29 points. In the final period PCMs lead would shrink to three entering the final two and a half minutes before the Mustangs recorded timely defensive stops and Senior Josh Fosenburg stepped to the line and knocked down five of six pressure free throws to ice the game. With the win PCM stands at 1-0 on the young season as they get set to welcome the Knoxville Panthers to PCM High School on Thursday.
