The Marion County E911 Department recently put together a new map that will assist first responders in getting to emergency scenes more quickly. According to County E911 Coordinator John McCoy the new document maps out the mile markers of the major highways in the area which should help the first responders navigate to rural areas of the county more easily. In addition, McCoy says with the recent addition of the second Mercy One helicopter based out of the Knoxville airport the maps will help Mercy One staff know where the location of the emergency is and whether or not it is an appropriate place for the helicopter to land.
