A winter weather advisory was in effect for much of central Iowa, including Marion County, Friday from shortly after 8am until 1pm. A wintry mix of freezing rain, freezing drizzle and sleet moved through the county coating area roads and sidewalks with a slick layer of ice. Several accidents were reported during this time from both motorists and pedestrians who struggled to maintain control due to the slippery surfaces. Fortunately, no major injuries were reported.
