Hundreds of MidAmerican Energy customers in Marion County are currently without power. The outage began around 10pm and as of 10:30 MidAmerican reports a total of 2,208 customers without power, equal to nearly one forth of all customers in the county. Of the more than 2,000 households affected, 824 of which are in Pleasantville, 621 in Melcher-Dallas and 720 in rural Marion County. The outage stemmed from an unknown problem at the substation though exact details have not yet been released. MidAmerican officials state it will take approximately 2 hours to fix the problem though crews will not be able to begin working on the issue until after midnight.
