Coach Justin Nolte and the Twin Cedars girls basketball team focused on offense during much of their holiday practice time but defense led the Lady Sabers to a 50-31 victory at home over Moravia in Bluegrass Conference action Tuesday night. The Lady Sabers jumped out to a 16-0 lead after the first eight minutes of action to build a lead they would not relinquish. The Mohawks would pull back to within single digits midway through the third quarter only to see Twin Cedars put up 18 points in the final frame. Twin Cedars was able to overcome 27 turnovers of their own by forcing 20 Mohawk turnovers that led to transition baskets. Ayla Crosby led the Lady Sabers with 16 points. Alee Hugen added 15 and Brittney Roby scored 10. With the win Twin Cedars moves back to the .500 mark overall at 5-5 and stays perfect in conference play at 4-0.
