The Knoxville girls basketball squad needed confidence, and they needed it in the worst way. Last night’s 44-39 win over Oskaloosa was just what the doctor ordered, as the Panthers limited what the Indians could do for most of the game. However, the biggest shot in the arm for Knoxville last night was the spark that Gretchen Hileman provided with ten points off the bench. Coach Jim Utiermarkt said Hileman’s effort was a major reason what Knoxville won. Hileman had just come off the injured list Tuesday night. Her efforts coupled with Katie Ayers and Ellie Hawkshead’s play on Oskaloosa post player Kenzie Gott made for a rough night for the Indians. Alex Abens led all scorers with 15 points. Ayers contributed ten along with Hileman’s ten points. The Panthers are 3-7 on the season and 1-4 in Little Hawkeye Conference play. Knoxville gets a quick turnaround this afternoon with a freshman/J-V/Varsity triple header against A-D-M at home. The freshman game is set to start at one.
